THE DISTANCES · ROOM VIIITHE STUDIO →ROOM VIII
In most fiction, place is a backdrop. Here it is the protagonist. The Distances gathers books where geography is the engine — the walk, the voyage, the border, the river crossing that changes whoever dares it. A man walking the English coast until landscape becomes memory. A day trip across the Río de la Plata that quietly unmakes a marriage. Distance is never only physical: to cross space is to cross into another version of yourself, and what arrives is never quite what set out. These are not travel stories. They are stories where the map is the plot — and the far blue horizon is both promise and threat.
