ROOM V

Every written word was first received. Before it was created, it was inherited — copied by hand, spoken before it was spelled, recovered after it was nearly lost. This room follows the written word as it survives across eras and forms, through three movements: Preservation, the word guarded by the copyist and the library; Reclamation, the word taken back, as ancestral and oral knowledge crosses into writing; and Continuation, the word extended, as one writer deliberately carries another's voice forward. The author is not only a creator but a custodian. To write is to inherit; to be read is to be passed on.
